D.C. Cops Being Investigated for Involvement in High-Stakes Craps Ring
The FBI is currently investigating allegations that were made on many law enforcement officers from the D.C. area. It has been alleged that the officers were involved in a Maryland gambling ring. This ring could be connected to homicides as well according to a report from the Washington Post. Five officers from Prince George County, a District police official and a former D.C. Housing Authority Officer are being investigated currently. It is believed that the officers helped protect illegal gambling sites that would rotate around the Southern part of Maryland. It has also been stated that at some point the officers were providing security in their uniforms for high stakes craps games with pots as high as $100,000.
When the new police chief took over earlier this year, he turned the investigation over to the FBI. Three of the suspected officers are on leave or have retired. The investigation has been ongoing since 2007.
