Obama Comments on McCain’s Reported Craps Addiction
It has been reported several times over that John McCain has a gambling problem. It has been said that McCain loves the craps tables and has his whole life, supposedly still playing today. It seems that McCain plays on a monthly basis rather than a daily basis. Barack Obama, McCain’s competition in the Presidential race, favors low stakes poker and recently made a comment on McCain’s gambling choices. A report was released that stated that McCain played high stakes rounds of craps at a Connecticut casino with a lobbyist for the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe. McCain is a former chairman of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee. The Committee has influence over laws that govern Native American Casinos.
Barack’s comments were: “I read the other day that Senator McCain likes to gamble. But one thing I know is this-we can’t afford to gamble on four more years of the same disastrous economic policies we’ve had for the last eight.” This was stated at a campaign rally.
A spokesman for the Republican Party commented on Barack’s statement: “Americans aren’t willing to be on a wild card, they want the best odds for their money, and that’s why are voting for John McCain.”
This statement made by Barack may help the Democratic Party as Evangelical Christian Republicans have never been on board with McCain and his views. With his ties to the gambling industry and their lobbyists, it may have a negative impact on the republican campaign.
